"PRINTMAKING

Students in both Studio Art and Advanced Art successfully experienced the techniques and methods of printmaking. Line and color, graphic impact, pattern, texture, composition and mood were considered when producing their multiple prints.

Battleship grey wood blocks as well as soft-kut linoleum sheets were carved with a variety of V-tool blades and gouges. Inking the blocks followed and prints were run through the printing press. A variety of surfaces were used including fabric, plastic, sandpaper, newspaper, bubble wrap, metallic paper, wood and corrugated cardboard. This form of art making is the perfect way to create bold, simple images and striking original patterns.

"CAN the CREATIVITY"

This project involving creating art from scrap gave the students an assignment that conceptualized their sence of environment and motivated them to think about recycling.

After sketching their design, students worked on the three dimensional process. Shapes were carefully cut and manipulated from the soda cans and held together wth hot glue. Aluminum allows for flexability and overlapping shapes added depth to their work.

Students were able to explore the concepts involved in spatial learning and flex their problem solving skills.
