Monsignor Thomas J. Earley Gold Medal for Scholarship Proficiency-Valedictorian

Senior with highest Cumulative GPA following Fall Grades in year of graduation. Co-awards are presented if there are more than one with equal GPA.

Monsignor Thomas J. Earley Gold Medal for Scholarship Proficiency-Salutatorian

Senior with second highest Cumulative GPA following Fall Grades in year of graduation. Co-awards are presented if there are more than one with equal GPA.

Palma Gold Medal in Theology

Graduating senior, selected by the Theology Department Chair, following consultation with his/her department

Palma Gold Medal in English

Graduating senior, selected by the English Department Chair, following consultation with his/her department

Palma Gold Medal in Social Studies

Graduating senior, selected by the Social Studies Department Chair, following consultation with his/her department

Palma Gold Medal in Mathematics

Palma Loyalty Award

Graduating senior, selected by the Executive Committee, who is actively involved in the Palma Community through community service and Palma activities.

Palma Leadership Award

Presented to the senior who demonstrates the ability to combine academic excellence and exemplary leadership roles in school and community activities, such as: ASB, student activities, Br. Rice etc... Selected by the Executive Committee.

Brother Martin D. Cunningham Award for Excellence in English

Graduating senior, selected by the English Department Chair, following consultation with his/her department. The winner will be recognized at Graduation.

Monroe Award for Proficiency in Mathematics

Graduating senior, selected by Math Department Chair, following consultation with his/her department. The winner will be recognized at Graduation.

W.H. "Hank" Muller Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award

Top scholar/athlete in the senior class. Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher. Selected by a committee chaired by the Athletic Director. The winner will be recognized at the Spring Athletic Ceremony.

Br. M.L. Crumlish Athlete of the Year Award

Top athlete in the senior class who demonstrates good moral character. Selected by a committee chaired by the Athletic Director. The winner will be recognized at the Spring Athletic Ceremony.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Citizenship Award

Based on a written essay by a graduating senior, selected by the Executice Committee.

California Scholarship Federation Awards

CSF membership requires high academic standards and unselfish service, as well as encourages future education. Life Membership is earned after four semesters of participation, and a timely application.

National Honor Society Awards

Certificates awarded to current elected officers.

President's Awards for Educational Excellence

Senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while attending Palma. Seniors who have a G.P.A. over 3.5 in academic subjects or who score in the 85th percentile or higher on national college admission examinations. Exemplary committment to Academic Excellence as determined by the Vice Principal and Principal, including by not limited to giving one's best effort on all standardized and AP exams taken by the student. No documented violations of Palma's academic integrity policy during his high school career.

Principal's Leadership Award

Graduating senior, selected by the Curriculum Committee.

Bank of America Awards

The Bank of America presents plaques and certificates to seniors having a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. and 30 hours of excellence within a subject area. Curriculum Committee selects the winners in coordination with the Academic Departments.

The American Citizen Award from The National Association of Secondary School Principals

Senior who has demonstrated noteworthy citizenship while attending Palma. In the spring, the Vice Principal requests nominations from all teachers for this award. The list of nominees is presented to the Executive Committee for approval.

James J. Cecilian Memorial Scholarship for Mathematics

Graduating senior, selected by the Math Department Chair, following consultation with his/her department.

Junior Class Scholarships

Criteria

The Louis, Eunice & Fulton Picetti Scholarship

Awarded to a returning Palma student who has been involved in his school, has established an outstanding record of achievement, and is a resident of San Benito County. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Todd Rubio Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a junior who meets academic and extracurricular-activity requirements and who has been a positive influence and example for his fellow students. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Margaret Morisoli Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a student who played football as a junior and plans to play his senior year. He must have maintained at least a 3.0 G.P.A., have shown leadership ability in both his school and community, and be in good standing at Palma. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Celia Griffin Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a member of the junior class who has a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2; who is an active participant in extracurricular activities; who is a student in good standing with exemplary conduct; and who is an active, practicing Catholic. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Max D. Tybroski Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a junior who meets academic, extracurricular-activity, conduct, and citizenship requirements. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Lane Ashley Bridger Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a member of the junior class who plans to complete his education at Palma. He must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2, participate in extracurricular activities, be an avid reader, and be in good standing with exemplary conduct. Presented in memory of Lane Ashley Bridger, class of 1989. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Paul & Margaret Johnson Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a member of the junior class who has a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 and who will complete his high school education at Palma. He must be a participant in extracurricular activities; be a student in good standing; and be an active, practicing Catholic. Selected by a family appointed committee.

Jonathon Storm Scholarship

Awarded to a returning Palma student who has been involved in his school, has established an outstanding record of achievement, and is a terrific credit to his family's good name and to Palma High School.

Graduating 8th grade students, selected by a majority of votes by the Executive Committee, following consultation with the Curriculum Committee.

Brother Rice Academic Scholarships

Partial scholarships to graduating Palma Junior High School students who have registered to attend Palma High School. Selected by the principal of Palma.

The Gerald D. Flowers Golden Chieftan Award

Monetary scholarship to attend Palma High School. Selected by a committee of eighth grade teachers and selected by the executive committee as an outstanding young man who represents the ideals and principles of Palma. Presented at graduation.

Catholic Daughters of America Scholarship

Monetary scholarship to attend Palma High School. Selected by the local ladies of the Catholic Daughters of America.

California Junior Scholarship Federation Scholarship Federation Scholarship

Monetary scholarship to attend Palma High School. Selected by the moderator of the Palma Chapter of CJSF.

Father Farrell Scholarship

Graduating eighth grader who attends the Parish. Selected by friends of Fr. Victor Farrell.

Chieftain Academic Excellence Awards

These awards are presented to the three students in each grade who maintain the highest grade point averages

National Merit Scholar Awards

Certificates are presented to seniors who excelled on the PSAT during their junior year. These students have been recognized by the College Board as either National Merit Scholars, National Merit Semifinalists, or National Hispanic Scholars.

Faculty's Choice Awards

Students are chosen by the faculty of Palma High School to be honored in the areas of citizenship, service, school spirit, and scholarship. First, teachers were asked to nominate students at each grade level in each of the four areas. Once the nomination process was finished, a vote was then taken by secret ballot, on which each teacher was asked to select only one student at each grade level for each of the four categories.

The Edmund Rice Society Service Award

Presented to outstanding members of the Society who demonstrate compassion, leadership, and selflessness modeled in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers of Ireland.

Investor Club Scholarship

The Palma Investor's Club presents a scholarship to a student who meets the following criteria: financial need, academic excellence and character. The student applies and is selected by the advisor. This award is not given each year due to market funding.

The Golden Rule Leadership Award

Presented by Granite Construction Inc., and is awarded to a graduating senior, who, in addition to academic accomplishment, actively participated in extracurricular activities and exemplified the "Golden Rule" with his interactions with classmates in demonstrating good citizenship. Nominations are sought from all faculty, selection is made by the Executive Commitee.
