AMERICAN HISTORY 7 - This course is the study of American history from discovery to the present. The course is designed for the junior high school student; with a goal of also teaching basic study skills needed to pursue the study of historical data; such as: note taking, research, writing, and test taking. This course is required of all 7th graders. Prerequisite: 7th Grade standing (10 credits).

WORLD HISTORY - This course is an examination of man from pre-history to the present, with particular concern to all regions and cultures of the world. Emphasis is made on mans' interdependence in developing modern institutions such as political forms, cultures, religions and laws. The course, or World History 1B, is required of all freshman. World History 1A students must have a reading level on the Placement test above the 25%. Prerequisite: 9th Grade standing (10 credits).

WORLD HISTORY HONORS - This course is an accelerated examination of man from pre-history to the present, with particular concern to all regions and cultures of the world. Emphasis is made on man's interdependence in developing modern institutions such as political forms, cultures, religions and laws. The course, or World History is required of all freshmen. Prerequisite: Minimum 3.33 G.P.A. or composite score of 85% and above on the Palma admissions examination (10 credits).

U.S. HISTORY - This course is a comprehensive examination of the events, movements, and institutions of American History from the era of discovery to the present. Included also is a substantial study of the American national government, its foundations, structures and powers. This course, or the U. S. History (AP) is required of all juniors. Prerequisite: Junior standing (10 credits).

U.S. HISTORY ADVANCED PLACEMENT - This course is an accelerated study of the history of United States from discovery to the present. The course is specifically designed to prepare the student to successfully challenge the College Board Advance Placement Test in United States history. Special attention will be devoted to essay writing, research, and test taking techniques requisite to success on the College Board examination. Only 11th grade students with a "B' (3.0) grade point average should attempt this course. Students who enroll in this course must take the A.,P. examination in U.S. History in the Spring. Prerequisite: Minimum 3.33 G.P.A.; Junior standing (10 credits).

U.S. GOVERNMENT - This course surveys the basic structure and operation of American government on the federal, state, and local levels. The course includes an examination of the historical background of American government and the developmental evolution of American political institutions. Prerequisite: Senior standing (5 credits).

The course is specifically designed to prepare the student to successfully challenge the College Board Advance Placement Test in U.S. Government. Special attention will be devoted to essay writing, research, and test taking techniques requisite to success on the College Board examination. The students who enroll in this course must take the A.P. examination in U.S. Government in the spring. Prerequisite: Minimum 3.33 GPA; Senior class standing (5 credits).

ECONOMICS - This course is a survey of the basic concepts of economics and their application in the evaluation of public policy. The economic systems of the other nations will also be compared. Prerequisite: Senior class standing (5 credits).

ECONOMICS HONORS - This course explains the choices made by individual consumers and producers in the marketplace. It shows how these individual choices affect supply and demand. It describes the organization of individual business firms and markets, ways to improve the market system, the labor market and individual income, and the importance of agriculture in the economy. The course is specifically designed to prepare the student to successfully challenge the College Board Advance Placement Test in Microeconomics. Special attention will be devoted to essay writing, research, and test taking techniques requisite to success on the College Board examination. Students enrolled in this course will have the option of taking the Advanced Placement Microeconomics examination in the spring. Prerequisite: Minimum 3.33 GPA; Senior class standing (5 credits).

EUROPEAN HISTORY ADVANCED PLACEMENT - The study of European History since 1450 introduces students to cultural, economic, political, and social developments that played a fundamental role in shaping the world in which they live. This knowledge provides a context for understanding the development of contemporary institutions, the role of continuity and change in present-day society and politics, and the evolution of current forms of artistic expression and intellectual discourse.

The course is specifically designed to prepare students to successfully challenge the College Board Advance Placement Test in European history. Special attention will be devoted to an understanding of some of the principal themes in modern European history, an ability to analyze historical evidence and historical interpretation, and an ability to express historical understanding through writing. Students enrolled in this course are required to take the A.P. examination in European History in May. Prerequisite: Only 10th, 11th and 12th grade students with an "A" (4.0) grade in their last history class (World History(H), World History or U. S. History) are recommended for enrollment (10 credits)
