Summer Reading: Social
Studies
As a college-preparatory school, Palma is dedicated to graduating
students who are ready for the extreme amount of reading that must be
done to succeed in college. Students entering the following grades in
the fall of 2006 are required to read the books listed under their
grade level. They will be tested during the first week of school next
fall, and that score will count for up to 25% of their first quarter
grade. It is strongly recommended that as the boys read, they keep a
reader's journal so that they can review before the test. For many it
is almost impossible to remember the important details of the books
if they have not kept a diary of the material while they are reading.
Students should be prepared to take a test that could include several
types of questions, including true/false, matching, multiple choice,
short answer, and essay questions.
