Early Bird: It was a very warm day at Toro Park. It effected many of the runners on all teams. The times were good but I think we could have run better. Let's hope for some cooler weather in the future. The Varstiy team finisheed 10th in the meet out of 60 teams.

Jamboree: Another nice workout for the varsity. The others all ran well and made a good showing at a non-scoring meet.

Chieftain Invite: The 13th year of the meet and we made our best finish on the varisity level finishing 4th overall. Just about every runner turned in thier best times. Tyre Johnson won the race in an impressive timeof 15:41. He is always looking to do better and it will come. It was just a little warm and the heat has a factor in all races. Medal winner Miguel Soria was 17th in the F/S race in a time of 18:11.

Salinas: The Varsity gave Salinas just about all it could handle falling short by a score of 30 - 26. It was the battle of the two league contenders. Great efforts were put in by Chris D'Arrigo, Alex Wutke and Tom Scaglione. Joey Alarid and Cutris Jessen lead the Jv and F/S teams. League standings Varsity 0-1, JV 0-1 and F/S 0-1.

Stanford Invite - The team showed what it was made of and ran like a team with a mission.  The team finished tied for first with Lakewood from Washington state, but lost the tiebreaker by one point.  The team also finished 23 out of 175 teams and 5th out of all CCS teams.  Tyre Johnson finished in 3rd place and 10th overall in the meet.  Chris, Alex, Greg, Tom, Miguel and Ethan all ran presonal bests.  The team should be commended for their best finish by any Palma team at this meet.

Alisal - All three teams were victorious.  Good runs where turned in by Chris D'Arrigo, Kent Majewski, Shaun Camcam and Chris Chen.  Varsity won 19 - 42, JV won 24 - 33 and F/S won being unchallenged.

Gilroy - The team travelled to Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy.  The Varsity team was victorious 17 - 41 while the JV (37 - 18) and F/S (41 - 18) went down in defeat.  Tyre missed the course record by one second and fine performances were turned in by Chris Dy, Steve Harvey and Curtis Jessen.  Records Varsity 2 - 1, JV 1 - 2 and F/S 1 - 2.

Salinas City Meet - After a hard work out the day before the varsity team elected to take it easy.  Tyre finished second in hte race and the rest of the tam all stayed together and jogged the course.  The JV team went incomplete but had Joe Alarid and Kent Majewski take home medals in 5th and 6th places.  The F/S team finished in second and Curtis Jessen finished 3rd with Shaun Camcam and Chris Chen finishing 6th and 7th.  Steve Harvey, Nate Hamilton and Josh Fredrickson all ran personal best times on the course.

Clovis Invitational - Tyre Johnson made a name for himself and hopefully will finally get the recognition he deserves.  He finished 5th in the Championship race and was only 6 seconds behind the number 3rd ranked runner in the nation.  He finished first out of all CCS runners that day and should move up in the rankings.  The Varsity team finished 9th in their race with some fine performances turned in by Tom Scaglione, Greg Johnson. Chris D'Arrigo, Joe Alarid, Kent Majewski, Alex Wutke and Miguel Soria (who finished the race all banged up after falling in the first 400 meters).

Hollister, North Salinas and Alvarez - The Varsity team had its tightest grouping yet, but it was not enough to beat out Hollister.  Tyre set the course record at Natividad Park.  We will have some work ahead of us in the coming weeks if we wish to win the conference meet.  Nate hamilton came close to brakng the 20 minute barrier and Joseph Song and Max Ngyen ran very well.  Varsity scores Pal 15 Alv. 40, Pal. 23 NS 32 and Hol. 24 Pal 31.  JV scores with two runners we lost them all.  F/S scores Pal 16 NS 43, Pal 15 Alv. 50 and Hol 15 Pal 45.  Records Varsity 4-2, JV 1-5 and F/S 3-3.

Mt. Sac - It certainly was a learning experience.  There were 17,000 runners in 80+ races.  It was a circus, but a very efficiently run meet.  Tyre finished 5th in his race and 15th overall in the meet.  The team made up mostly of juniors had a great learning experience.  As most of them saind the hills here make Toro seems like a piece of cake.  Alex Wutke, Chris D'Arrigo, Kent Majewski all ran very well.

TCAL Championships - The rain held off for most of the day until the last race.  Chris Chen, Shaun Camcam, Joe Alarid put together thier best races ever.  The F/S and Varsity teams both finished third in the league and Tyre Johnson was the league individual champion.

CCS Championships - An unusually warm day in November as we ran for a tie for first place in the Division 4 race only to lose in the sixth man tiebreaker to King City.  This was the second time this happened to us this year.  Fine performances were turned in by all.  We knew it would be close but we did not think that it would be King City that we would lose too.  Tyre Johnson gave it his all to go for the record but came up short, but still ran the best time of anyone during the day.  Alex Wutke came with all he had as he has in other CCS races finishing 7th in the race and making the CCS team.  By finishing second Palma has earned the right to go to the state meet for the  third year in a row.  Congratulations team and good luck at STATE.

State Championships - A fine day at Woodward Park in Fresno.  Tyre Johnson bacame the first Palma runner to become state champion.  He took the lead from the beginning and never gave it up.  He ran away from the field and no one could catch him.  The team finished in 13th position.  Greg Johnson came back to form, and Chris Tom and Alex all followed suit.  This was a great day to make Palma history.
