As a saxophonist, whether you are a beginner or an aspiring professional, it is your responsibility to always produce to best possible tone that you can.  It doesn't matter if you are playing in a concert hall for hundreds of people, in a club for some hip jazzers, for a playing test for Mr. Galindo, or even for your dog in your garage.  You must always sound great!  Now, how do we do that?  Here are some things that will help...

Reeds

Ligatures

Mouthpieces

A word of advice: if you are playing on a lower student model saxophone, throw away the mouthpiece that came with it.  It is a cheap piece of junk.  It is made of plastic.  It will make you sound bad!

Here is one of the best mouthpieces money can buy.  It produces a rich, dark tone, perfectly suitable for high school symphonic band or jr high concert band.  If you are already doing things correctly with your embouchre, you will notice an immediate improvement in your tone.
