Welcome to junior English.  This is a very busy year, as students will be taking the PSAT in October and then should take the SATs at least twice during this school year.  For those reasons we will begin the year preparing for these standardized tests.  We have added a grammar workbook to the curriculum in order to enhance the students' grammar skills which are tested along with their vocabulary and writing skills on the SATs.

The weekly vocabulary study is broken down as follows:

Monday - Definitions

Tuesday - Fill in the blanks

Wednesday - Synonyms and Antonyms

Thursday - Choose the Right Word and Vocabulary in Context

Friday - Test

Week of October 14

Tuesday - Bring collection of quotes that deal with danger from the last three pages of "The Rockpile"
              - Study for the PSAT
              - A grammar retake test will be given in class

Wednesday - PSATs
