This is a music performance class with three
aspects: to introduce the students to the fundamentals of music; to
improve the students’ musical proficiency; and to form an
ensemble that will be exposed to a variety of band literatures. The
band performs two home concerts, as well as performs at school rallies,
athletic events, community functions, and concert festivals. Each year
the band makes a trip to perform outside our immediate region. This
ensemble is considered the core of the Palma High School Band Program.
This course fulfills the University of California and California State
University fine arts requirement.
As part of the 2009/2010 school year, the band will be touring Southern
California. They will receive a workshop at Disneyland and
visiting other cultural hubs of the Los Angeles region.
Currently, the band is the only co-ed class at Palma. Girls from
Notre Dame Salinas are welcome to join the band. Contact Mr.

The band acts as a pep band and performs at all home football games.
